Transmedia

Transmedia storytelling (also known as transmedia narrative or multiplatform storytelling) is the technique of telling a single story or story experience across multiple platforms and formats using current digital technologies.

Pinterest

Instagram provided a platform for my hands on field research. Throughtout my visits to the fermentation sites, I was able to capture images and footages from the winery experience and post them to my instagram. This component of my research tne allowed to me to share my knowledge through hashtags. A hashtag allows grouping of similarly tagged messages, and also allows an electronic search to return all messages that contain it.

Welcome to my Pinterest. This was created specifially for my Fermentation Field Guide and helped to strucutre my research around all the participants of fermentation. As you can see, participation is essentail to the art form.

Somm: Wine Documentary

This documentary was a great peak into answering the question: How do we judge living art?  Somm takes us directly to the source of the Somm Master Certifcation, a rigourous three day intesive testing that only 200 people have passed in the entire world since it's inception in 1977. For more information about the Master Sommelier Diploma vist there site.

The Bible of Fermentation

This book is an amazing reference for all things fermented. It desconstructs both theory and practial information regarding fermentation. Check out an excerpt from this book, that will highlight some of the analysis I break down when talking about arts and culture.

When looking at our readings throughout the term, Transmedia plays an important and critical role into expanding how we participate in art worlds. As Henry Jenkins states "A transmedia text does not simply disperse information: it provides a set of roles and goals which readers can assume as they enact aspects of the story through their everyday life". (http://henryjenkins.org/2007/03/transmedia_storytelling_101.html).

These roles are presented through the transmedia sources throughout this virtual field guide. The material presented allows the readers to take and apply to their lives. This art world of fermentation is versatile and tangible enough for everyone to participate in. Whether it is making our own ferments from scratch  or understanding the complexity that goes into forming a wine palate, the amount of resources there for participants to create and explore this art world is vast. For more of an in-depth look on how this art world connects with Art In Society visit the analysis page.

Why Transmedia?

This is gallery of images for Meute De Chiens (translate to Pack of Dogs) vineyard outside of Portland, Oregon. This one Acre winery produces around 7 Barrels this year, which is around 150-160 Gallons per ton about 2,000 bottles of wine.
